A Brief History of San Fransisco

In 1850, a rather obscure Tremere named Cyrano made his way to the Bay Area when he had heard that gold was found in the hills nearby. Wanting to build his fortune like the mortals around him, Cyrano quickly invested and controlled many areas in San Fransisco. He became the Prince by default as not many Kindred had yet made their way to the city.

As more gold poured into town, San Fransisco exploded in population. Cyrano and the rest of cities kindred lived in lavish extremes with many calling the time of Cyrano "the Golden Era". Cyrano was a powerful Tremere that all feared but he brought prosperity to the city by the bay.

However, like Sodom and Gamora, the city was about to have its first judgement.

On April 18 1906 at 5:12 am, the city was rocked by the largest quake in modern US memory at 7.8 on the Richter scale. The quake was so powerful that 50% of the buildings in the city collapsed. The rest were consumed by the conflagration that followed.

Two months later, in June 1906, a Ventrue named Nathan Kent assumed control of the city of San Francisco when the previous Prince ( Cyrano, r:1850 to 1906), abandoned it after the Great Earthquake. No one knows why or where Cyrano went but his departure left a strange power vacuum in the city. Kent rebuilt the city and "relative" peace reigned  for nearly 80 years under the new Prince.

Prince Kent was already a well known and powerful Venture who had worked tirelessly to rebuild the city after the "Big One". Cyrano had managed to choke the city off from any other power brokers and had been somewhat of a recluse in his final years.

The majority of the Camarilla thought San Francisco would never recover from the Earthquake and effectively wrote it off as another "Western American Town that had run its course."  But with powerful leadership and a knack for business, Prince Kent was able to make San Francisco a force to be reckoned within the World of Darkness. He, along with many other kindred in the Bay Area, became "superstars" within the vampire community. Their exploits and stories spread the world over.

The city attracted every clan of kindred imaginable. With that growth also came greed. And that greed led to power struggles. By 1980, a new influx of neonates had set their eyes on the city and it they soon became pawns of the older kindred who lived there. This conflict began to slowly build and Prince Kent faced many challenges during the decade of excess. However, the enemies of Prince Kent underestimated his power and intelligence. 

Prince Kent was able to defeat all who opposed him, cementing himself as a true force the vampire world by the end of the 80s. However in less than a decade (1998), Kent fell when numerous factions joined forces, finally deposing and killing him in August of that year. What seemed impossible had become a reality and the city was thrown into disarray once again.

Many kindred meet their final death during that time (called the Purge). Without rule of law and Prince Kent's watchful eye, San Francisco spiralled into a CHAOTIC blood bath for almost two years. That was until a Necromancer named Ambrogino Giovanni arrived on a cold winter day in 2000.

Ambrogino was no stranger to politicking  and soon made his move for Princedom.
